A 20-Minute Sunday Planning Routine That Actually Sticks
Most planners fail for one reason: the planning session is too long, so it gets skipped. This routine takes 20 minutes, needs only a pen and a weekly page, and works whether you use a bound planner or a printable.
Minute 0–5: Brain dump
On a blank sheet, write every task, errand, appointment and worry on your mind. Don't sort yet. Getting it out of your head is the point. Most people find 15–30 items.
Minute 5–10: Check the calendar
Copy fixed appointments, work shifts, and deadlines onto your weekly page first. If you work nights or rotating shifts, block your sleep window too. It's the commitment people most often forget to protect.
Minute 10–15: Pick a top three
From the brain dump, choose three things that would make the week feel successful. Give each one a day. Everything else goes on a "if there's time" list at the bottom of the page.
Minute 15–20: Reset your space
Clear the desk and stage what Monday needs: bills to pay, forms to sign, the grocery list. Our 15-minute desk reset fits here if things have piled up.
